Blockchain For Wealth and Risk Management

We’d like to invite you to an innovative 2 x half-day workshop for professionals in wealth management.

The world of finance is rapidly changing

No longer in the realms of scams and money laundering, crypto digital assets like Bitcoin, security tokens, blockchain-enabled payments and decentralised finance are here to stay.

Major banks across the world and here in Australia have already adopted blockchain technology for payment transfer, increased security and instant money transfers: the next generation of the internet is emerging.

Wealth and risk management has broadened over these past years as new financial instruments have emerged.

The emergence of blockchain wealth management creates a whole world of fresh opportunities (and challenges) for the finance sector.

The wealth management industry needs to ensure it’s working ahead of the changes, not only to remain competitive, but up-to-date and relevant. Clients are already looking to their wealth advisors to help navigate these new and intriguing digital financial instruments, and understand the implications for their investments.

Why Crypto Asset Management is the Next Big Thing

Investors are increasingly looking to add a bit of cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin, to diversify their portfolios. Cryptocurrencies, however, can be difficult to grasp for new adopters and many ordinary investors. Crypto asset management solutions are being created to help individuals and firms alike take advantage of crypto without having to worry about the ins and outs or technical procedures involved.

What is DeFi (Decentralised Finance)?

A global, open and alternative financial sector on the rise, offering every financial service you use today — savings, loans, trading, insurance and more — accessible to anyone in the world with a smartphone and internet connection. Currently this nascent sector has $7.14billion USD locked up across the entire suite of products and services, and it’s rapidly rising. Although DeFi the buzz world, many don’t actually understand what it means…

From Metals to Licences The World Gets Tokenised

The process of tokenisation creates a bridge between real-world assets and their trading, storage and transfer in a digital world. The corresponding structure is built by using Blockchain technology. In the most abstract form, tokenisation converts the value stored in tangible or intangible objects into tokens.  Investment and residential properties, funds, precious metals, cars, luxury goods.

“Bitcoin has the same character a fax machine had. A single fax machine is a doorstop. The world where everyone has a fax machine is an immensely valuable thing.”

How will blockchain impact the “traditional” practice of wealth managers?

The field of wealth and risk management has broadened over these past years as new financial instruments have emerged.

The emergence of blockchain wealth management creates a whole world of opportunities (and challenges) in the finance sector.

The wealth management industry needs to ensure it’s working ahead of the changes to remain not only competitive, but up-to-date. Clients are already looking to their wealth advisors to help navigate these new and intriguing digital financial instruments, and understand the implications for their investments.

What will the impact be on existing wealth management infrastructures of blockchain wealth management, and how will it affect finance as we know it?

Three main areas within the wealth management process are set to be disrupted by the introduction of blockchain wealth management. These are client onboarding, real-time settlements, and automated investment vehicles. Cryptocurrencies and security tokens also offer new investment opportunities, bringing further considerations.
